Bike

According to a study journal of transport and health which was published in 2015, about 41% of households around the world owned at least a bicycle. This is more than 580 million bicycles worldwide. Regular cycling is very beneficial to the good health of our bodies because it stimulates and improves our hearts, lungs, and circulation of blood in our bodies. This reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and strengthens the heart muscles, lowers the resting pulse, and reduces blood fat levels. About one billion people ride bicycles every day for transportation, recreation, and sport and so it is necessary to know its benefits on the environment we live in. Let us look at some of them.

Reduction in air pollution

This is perhaps one of the most important benefits of riding bikes over the use of motor vehicles. Pollution of the sir around us happens almost all the time and the least we could do is to reduce it. Reducing it will make the environment a better place for us. Many people use cars many times a day, especially when they have to go to work and take kids to school. The more use of cars increases the pollution of the air which is not good for the environment. The use of bikes on the other hand uses minimal fossil fuels and so offers a pollution-free mode of transport. Research suggests that if you use a bike each time you go to work, you would save about 3000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions each year.

Reduction in parking problems

Getting stuck in traffic or finding some difficulty with places to park because there are too many cars can be very overwhelming. Imagine getting to an event and looking for a place to park for the next half hour. I once arrived at an event late and spent the remaining time period for the event looking for a parking space. By the time I found one, the event was already over. The issue of traffic could make people lose their nerves and more often be involved in minor accidents. Riding a bike brings some positivity here. There will be more patience and there would be a reduction in the number of accidents. It also helps those who have their houses near the main road to have a very good night’s sleep because there won’t be those early morning noises from cars in traffic. Bikes bring more peace to the environment, especially in urban places.

Fewer roads are built

When there are more cars on the road, it would mean there should be more roads built and this causes water run-offs that can pollute the ground and even water. Using a bike offers better treatment to the environment in this aspect. More bikes mean more bike lanes which are more sustainable. Having to build more roads and do road excavations can lead to erosion of the soil due to changes in the ground runoff conditions. More roads also destroy surface vegetation. This is not good for the growth of plant species and ecosystem structure and function. More roads also destroy the habitats of wildlife causing an imbalance in the ecosystem. The use of bikes will reduce these and make the environment a better place to enjoy and live in.

Less burning of non-renewable fuels

When more people ride bikes, it contributes to a great reduction in petroleum consumption. In the year 2019, the United States consumed around 20.5 million barrels of oil per day and the two most common types of oil used are diesel and gas. So, you can imagine the amount of oil we expend daily. The burning of non-renewable fuels in our daily lives has led to an era of global warming and the depletion of the ozone layer of the earth. More bike riding will help reduce this and impact the environment positively. Apart from the traditional bicycles, the chopper bike offers more stability and balance, especially at high speeds. This is possible because of the raked front end on the chopper, giving it a real performance advantage. So, you should consider buying this if you love traveling at faster speeds on your bike.

Final word

Bicycle riding uses minimal fossil fuels which benefits the environment in different ways. It is also a form of exercise which is beneficial to the rider’s health. It guarantees a reduction in air pollution and sound pollution generated by the noise from plenty of cars. It is a sure way to more plant life and less concrete in the urban areas.
