Scholarships provided by the Australian government and institutions of higher learning can be divided into two categories: Australian government-funded scholarships (Australian Scholarships, Australian Destination Scholarships and Endeavour Leadership Scholarships) and scholarships provided by Australian universities.
Australian universities value high-achieving students and have many scholarship programs to attract the world’s best and brightest students to study in Australia. The following lists the scholarships and application details funded by theAustralian government and eight excellent universities.
Here are some scholarships funded by the Australian Government:
- Australia Awards Scholarships
The scholarship covers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral, as well as higher vocational education and training courses. Specifically, it includes all tuition fees, round-trip air tickets, living allowances, settlement allowances, overseas student health insurance, and basic medical expenses for students.
- Destination Australia
Destination Australia is a new scholarship program proposed by the Australian government for domestic and international students. The school the student attends must be listed in the regional area announced by the Australian government. More than 1,000 scholarships will be announced for domestic and international students to apply for. The degree categories that can be applied for this scholarship are eligible to apply for degrees above the certificate. Australian higher education institutions can assist students in applying for grants of up to AUD 15,000 per student per year.
- Endeavour Leadership Program
Launched by the Australian Government and administered by the Australian Department of Education and Training, it is an international initiative that promotes two-way mobility between Australia and priority partner countries for short-term and long-term study, research and career development training. The Endeavour Leadership Program supports Australia’s first National Strategy for International Education 2025, a ten-year development plan for Australia to become a global leader in education, training and research.
Australian University Scholarships:
Many top institutions in Australia, including the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney and the Australian National University (ANU), offer scholarships, and there are a wide variety of scholarships that students are advised to go directly to the official website of the university of interest to inquire about scholarships that suit individual cases.
- UWA Global Excellence Scholarship
The UWA Global Excellence Scholarship is a scholarship for high-achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students, applicable to many UWA courses. Undergraduates can apply for up to $45,000 over three years; and postgraduates can apply up to $30,000 over two years.
- Monash University International Merit Scholarships
This scholarship is mainly for outstanding international students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Monash University, and the amount is A$10,000.
- Sydney Achievers International Scholarships
This scholarship is a new scholarship set up by the University of Sydney for undergraduate and postgraduate students to attract more outstanding international students. Each international student can apply for a scholarship of AUD 10,000 per year.
- Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships
In recognition of outstanding academic performance and potential international students, 50% of all tuition fees will be waived for eligible applicants.
- Macquarie University International Scholarships
Macquarie University offers scholarships of up to A$10,000 for outstanding international students, both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- The Melbourne International Research Scholarships
This scholarship is exclusively awarded to international students with a research-intensive postgraduate degree at the University of Melbourne, with a limited number of places per department. Scholarships include living allowance, placement allowance, dissertation allowance and the cost of sick, maternity and family leave.
- Adelaide Scholarships International
This scholarship is launched by the University of Adelaide to attract outstanding international postgraduate students and improve the research strength of the school. These include tuition, living expenses and medical insurance.
- La Trobe Academic Excellence Scholarships for International Students
This scholarship is designed to attract outstanding international students from around the world to study undergraduate and postgraduate studies at La Trobe University. The scholarship is between 10,000-20,000 Australian dollars.
