Discover The Different Garage Doors
There are four types of garage doors: up-and-over doors, roller doors, sectional doors, and swing doors. Every garage door has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Swing gates
Up-and-over doors are mostly used for garages. Mainly because up-and-over doors are an advantageous and long-term solution. As the name suggests, this type of garage door opens by swinging out when it is opened and when it is fully opened, the swing door disappears under the garage ceiling. Due to the tension springs, the door stays open by itself and does not close uncontrollably.
Up-and-over doors are relatively easy to open. Some can also be opened with an electric remote control. The advantage for you is that you do not have to get out of the car to open the garage doors. In addition, an up-and-over door can be covered with impregnated wood from Northern Europe. This gives the garage door a luxurious look and protects it from various weather conditions. A disadvantage of the up-and-over door is that the ceiling of the garage can hardly be used as an up-and-over door takes up a lot of space.
Roller doors
Another option for garage doors is a roller shutter. The roller doors take up the least space in all types of garage doors. Roller doors are ideal when you want to keep the storage space in your garage. In the case of roller doors, the door is rolled up vertically without affecting the garage ceiling. This way, you can use your entire ceiling as storage space.
Roller doors can be opened with a remote control. In addition, roller doors are comparatively safe. Your stored items are therefore well protected against break-ins. The good insulation of roller shutters also ensures that the room does not cool down too much. A disadvantage of a roller shutter as a garage door is its use. Roller gates have to be opened almost completely before anything or anyone can enter. This is especially annoying if you plan to drive into the garage several times a day.
Sectional doors
A sectional door consists of horizontal panels. One advantage of sectional doors is that they always fit in your garage. The shape of the door opening does not matter here. In addition, the panels slide close to the garage ceiling during opening. This means you have more space to store items or your car. The panels also do not swing out when the door is opened. This is how you get the most out of the space in your garage.
In some cases, there is also the option of a side sectional door. The panels slide along the side walls of the garage. A disadvantage of this system is that it is impossible to use the wall that the panels slide along.
Swing gates
A swing gate has several advantages. First, the passage can be opened on two sides. With this type of garage door, you can only open one door if, for example, you want to ride your bike in or out of the garage. In addition, there is no threshold that must be crossed.
A disadvantage of swing gates is that they almost always must be opened manually. Most swing gates have a simple door handle with a lock. This makes swinggates less suitable for daily storage of your car.
