Although there are plenty of practical things you can do when it comes to being eco-friendly, and we\u2019ll talk about some of them below, it all starts with the right mindset. If you always keep the environment in mind, no matter what you\u2019re doing, you\u2019ll always make the right choice.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you have a wedding to arrange?In that case, how about organising an eco-friendly wedding<\/a>? Or, maybe you want to buy a new car? Would an electric car be a better option? When you\u2019re grocery shopping, could you buy locally produced items or things that are responsibly sourced and packaged? Having the right mindset means you can automatically choose well, and that\u2019s an excellent way to be.<\/p>\n

Wash Laundry on Cold <\/strong><\/p>\n

Everyone always seems to have a lot of laundry to do. It\u2019s bad enough if you live on your own, but when you have a family in your home as well, laundry can often feel never-ending. In the grand scheme of things, it\u2019s not that much of a chore \u2013 you do get into a routine \u2013 but the downside is that it\u2019s costing you money and it\u2019s bad for the environment because you\u2019re using resources and energy.<\/p>\n

We all want clean clothes, so you will want to keep washing them, but if you do it at a lower temperature, you can make things a little eco-friendlier. That\u2019s because you\u2019re using less energy to heat the water. Most clothes will come out looking great on a cold wash<\/a>, but it\u2019s wise to read the labels to be sure.<\/p>\n

Collect Rainwater <\/strong><\/p>\n

If you live somewhere that has a lot of rain, you might not think too highly of the weather. However, you can use the rain to your advantage in your quest to become more environmentally friendly, and that will make you feel better.<\/p>\n

The best way to do this is to collect the rainwater<\/a> and use it in your backyard. You can harvest rainwater by connecting a water butt to the bottom of a drainpipe, so that when it rains, the butt is filled. When you need to water the yard, you can take water directly from there, rather than using water from the hose.<\/p>\n

Try Composting <\/strong><\/p>\n

Another great idea that will cost you nothing (and it might save you money) and can be rather enjoyable is to consider composting<\/a>. Compost is essentially a mix of different organic materials that have broken down to create a substance that is good for plants and the backyard in general.<\/p>\n
